An Oxted resident has won the top prize of £25,000 in last Saturday’s Tandridge Together Lottery. The winner, Mrs T from Oxted, is the first person to scoop the jackpot and was one of 52 winners of a range of prizes.
She said: “I’m so delighted to have won the jackpot, it was such a shock! The money couldn’t have come at a better time. I’m a single mum and as a key worker have worked throughout the COVID pandemic, so it’s been tough. Some of my family members haven’t been able to work or get paid during the pandemic, so I’m happy to be able to help them. I’m so pleased I started playing the lottery six months ago! It’s also such a great way to support local charities, so thank you Tandridge Together Lottery!”
A ticket for Tandridge Together Lottery costs £1, with 60p from each ticket going directly to good causes. Mrs T’s chosen good cause was the creation of a wellbeing garden for students and staff at Oxted School. The school was delighted to hear of her win and said: “It’s fantastic to hear one of our supporters has won the jackpot. We’re so pleased and grateful for her support of our wellbeing garden which is vital for everyone at Oxted School, especially during the difficult times we’re all currently facing.”
The Tandridge Together Lottery supports 160 registered local good causes, including community centres, sport clubs and charities, helping them deliver their valuable work for residents. Players have raised more than £181,000 for local charities and voluntary organisations.
The next draw will take place on Saturday 22 August and every Saturday after that. On Saturday 29 August, players could also win one of five £100 B&Q gift cards. All players who join the lottery by Saturday 29 August will be entered into the special national prize draw, as well as a chance of winning cash prizes, including the jackpot of £25,000.
