ESDAS' aim is to relieve the need, hardship and distress of those who have suffered due to domestic abuse and violence. In particular we aim to achieve this goal through provision of direct services to survivors and their children. These services include provision of specialist advocacy, advice, information and support through Outreach Services, Children's Services, Group Work, Counselling, Volunteering and Family Work. We strive to empower those who have experienced domestic abuse and violence to take control of their lives and fulfil their potential. Maximising safety and wellbeing as well as long term recovery and hope are crucial to our service delivery. Our service users are fully involved in the development of our services by helping us to shape our services to effectively meet their needs and fill any gaps in provision.
We aim to:
Reduce risk and maximise safety
Promote recovery through empowerment
Promote awareness about healthy relationships to encourage more positive futures
Enable survivors to be heard and influence how services respond to those experiencing domestic abuse
Support an ethos that promotes equality and a life free from violence and abuse
Why do we do it?
“To all at ESDAS, I just wanted to thank you all for all the support and kindness you have shown me over the last 6 months. I always knew that I could call your service or the out of hours service when things got out of hand or I was really scared. Thank you for supporting me and identifying what I was going through was a form of DA. Your service was exactly what I needed and without your support and the support of my GP/Health Visitor I don’t think I would be writing this card. I hope your service is able to continue and any support you need please know I am happy to help. I never thought it would happen to me but you showed me I had the strength to get out and make a life for my son and me. I am now living and no longer surviving so thank you!!” (Survivor, 2017)
Thank you for helping us to help survivors recognise their strengths, re-connect with their communities and rebuild their lives
